RAVE THE REQVIEM
Rave The Reqviem was founded in 2011 by Filip Lönnqvist. The purpose of this project was to combine metal with modern electronic music – such as industrial, dubstep and drum ‘n’ bass – and melodic, gothic elements.
Ethereal female soprano vocals courtesy of none other than Filip’s mother Carola sailed sweetly over the epic choruses of her son’s electro-metal onslaught – providing the perfect musical counterpoint to the carnage of heavy riffs and hard electronics seething beneath the surface.
In 2014, Rave The Reqviem signed a record deal with DWA. Already boasting a huge underground following in Russia on the back of the self-released demos, the band quickly met with a far wider reaching appreciation from fans across the globe.
The success of the truly exhilarating and genre-breaking self-titled debut album, propelled the band to headline tours in Eastern Europe and Russia and festival appearances in Sweden and the UK. A smash hit, swiftly accelerating to become both the fastest-selling and ultimately the best-selling ”true debut album” on DWA ever.
Some two years later, singer/songwriter Filip – now accompanied by a full 5-piece band – has finally put the finishing touches to the follow-up, his first concept album The Gospel Of Nil.
Still incorporating the electronics that powered the first album and which are a key component of the signature ”RTR Sound”, The Gospel of Nil treads the fine line between industrial metal, heavy electronica and mainstream rock – and which in so doing seems likely to supply ”The Chvrch Of RTR” with a steady stream of further converts from more mainstream rock audiences in addition to fans of industrial metal.
Rave The Reqviem just finished another headline tour in Eastern Europe in October 2016.
